A request has been made for the reopening of the investigation into the fatal accident which occurred in July 2022 on the Sant’Agata Militello seafront in which Federico Latteri, a 51-year-old from Acquedolci, lost his life. The basis of the request, according to what was reported in a press release by the family’s defenders, lawyers Claudio Congedo and Giuseppe Greco, are the results of the technical investigations ordered by the Court of Ivrea, where the civil proceedings against the insurance company were initiated, which would exclude the onset of a heart attack of the 51-year-old as the cause of the accident for which in criminal proceedings the investigating judge of Patti had closed the proceedings against the driver of the car involved.
«Today – explain the family’s lawyers – the new and in-depth expert investigations carried out in Ivrea totally demolish that thesis: a heart attack is categorically excluded. The current scientific and medico-legal findings firmly orient the cause of death towards a pulmonary gas embolism, directly deriving from the trauma sustained in the impact.” The documents were therefore deposited with the Patto Public Prosecutor’s Office to formally request the reopening of the preliminary investigations. «There are neither winners nor losers, we only fight for the truth and so that our Federico can have justice, giving a voice to those who cannot defend themselves», comments his wife Angelina Miraglia.
