In recent days, in conjunction with the traditional “historical fair” of Sant'Agata di Militello which every year brings together numerous people, the Carabinieri of the local Company have intensified controls in the area by setting up patrols and checkpoints, also carried out in the evening and night hours, aimed at combating crimes in general, especially those of a predatory and related nature. to drug trafficking, as well as violations of the Highway Code.

During the service, the military personnel checked over 110 vehicles and more than 160 people, reporting several violations of the Highway Code, including violations that could endanger the safety of motorists and pedestrians. With reference to crimes related to road traffic, the Carabinieri have reported two people to the Judicial Authority. The first for driving while intoxicated, as she was found drunk while driving and the second, however, for illegal possession of a stick with sharp points, which the military seized.

As part of anti-drug activity a man was reported for possession for the purpose of dealing drugs. Following a personal and vehicular search, which was then also extended to the individual's home, the Carabinieri found over 40 grams of marijuana in the suspect's possession. Two young people, aged 20 and 23 respectively, were reported to the Prefecture of Messina as drug users as they were found in possession of doses of hashish and marijuana held for personal use.

All the drugs were seized and sent to the Carabinieri of the RIS of Messina for laboratory analysis.
