Work continues on the reconstruction of the Agrò bridge, at km 35+100 of the SS114 “Orientale Sicula”. To allow the contracting company COSEDIL SpA to operate safely, the Metropolitan City of Messina has ordered the temporary closure of a section of the SP 12 of Roccafiorita (Via Mantineo), from km 21+000 to km 21+350, in the territory of Sant’Alessio Siculo.
The ordinance
The ordinance provides for a stop to transit and a ban on parking from 7.30 pm to 6.00 am on the nights between 15 and 19 December 2025. A necessary measure, requested by the company in charge, which is part of a project of great importance for the mobility and safety of the Ionian coast.
The alternative route
To reduce inconvenience, an alternative route was identified along a track adjacent to the bed of the Agrò Torrent, completely delimited by construction site fences, illuminated with light towers and signaled with flashing lanterns, in compliance with the requirements of the Basin Authority. The passage of emergency vehicles will be guaranteed at all times and, in the event of adverse weather conditions that make the alternative route impracticable or unsafe, transit on the SP 12 in the affected section will be permitted, prohibiting access to the temporary road system.
Basile: “An intervention of great importance”
“The reconstruction of the Agrò bridge represents an intervention of great importance for road safety and for the quality of life of citizens – declared the metropolitan mayor Federico Basile – but above all it is the demonstration of how fundamental the collaboration between bodies, institutions and companies is to achieve concrete objectives. The temporary closure of a stretch of local road traffic is a necessary sacrifice to guarantee a long-lasting and safe result, which will return a modern and reliable infrastructure to the territory”.

For this reason we have prepared all the necessary measures to ensure that the temporary closure and the alternative route are managed responsibly and in compliance with the regulations, while at the same time guaranteeing the continuity of essential services and the protection of citizens”.
