Also this weekend, targeted extraordinary inter-force surveillance and public order services were carried out, ordered by the Police Commissioner, with the aim of maintaining the general security framework high and therefore preventing and combating crimes against the person, property, drug dealing and any other form of illegality.
In particular, during the aforementioned service, the sensitive areas of the city center were monitored and in particular those most affected by the evening and nightlife as well as the places affected by public events, to ensure due protection for the visitors of the streets and squares where various public establishments are located, for the customers of the premises themselves, for the residents and for the owners of the various commercial activities.
In addition to the city center, the activities also affected the main road arteries leading to the city center, where several control posts were set up by the patrols employed.
The services saw the use of men and vehicles of the State Police, engaged not only with the various branches of the Police Headquarters but also with the help of the “Southern Calabria” Crime Prevention Department, of soldiers from the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza and with the contribution of the Local Police. As part of police activities, approximately 400 people were identified, of which no. 69 criminally registered, checked no. 144 vehicles and numerous violations of the Highway Code.
Furthermore, the readiness of the State Police personnel engaged in the aforementioned checks last Saturday evening allowed a person who had expressed suicidal intent to be immediately traced and made safe.
