Seven hunters, all from Reggio Calabria, were attacked at dawn in two separate robberies and robbed of their hunting rifles.
First episode
The first episode occurred near Laureana di Borrello, when a car with four individuals on board, masked and armed with rifles and pistols, forced two cars with five hunters on board to stop along the provincial road that connects Rosarno to Laureana di Borrello, in the Gioia Tauro plain, robbing them of the rifles provided. Previously, in the same area, other hunters had already been attacked twice last month, blocked by Kalashnikov machine gun fire against the engines of vehicles so as not to escape the robbery.
Second episode
The second episode occurred in Melicucco, where the bandits, armed and masked, forced two hunters to hand over their rifles. The phenomenon of robberies of hunters is not new in Reggino, especially in the Gioia Tauro plain, where in recent years the police had however managed to effectively control the territory. This year, however, the phenomenon has returned in a violent manner and with the bandits also resorting to heavy weapons, such as Kalashnikovs, leveled and used against defenseless citizens.
