The activity of the State Police in the province of Cosenza continues incessantly. On the night of 16 June 2025 in the municipality of Corigliano-Rossano, precisely on the seafront of the urban area of Rossano, a violent armed attack occurred which resulted, according to the reconstruction of the investigators, in a shootout against two people.
Investigations and judicial measures
The first investigative activities carried out by the Police Station of Corigliano-Rossano, under the direction of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Castrovillari, made it possible to identify the perpetrators of this criminal episode, subjecting them to PG arrest and subsequently to precautionary measures in prison.
The issuing of DACUR provisions
The Police Commissioner of the Province of Cosenza, at the conclusion of the investigations conducted by the Anti-Crime Division and the Police Station of Corigliano-Rossano, issued 9 orders prohibiting access to urban areas (DACUR) against as many people residing in the Municipality of Corigliano-Rossano. The nine engaged in alarming anti-social behaviour, creating serious danger to the safety and security of the people present inside the premises.
Purpose and restrictions of the measure
The DACUR was issued for the need to prevent and combat the onset of criminal or illegal phenomena that may develop in areas that need to be preserved, in order to protect urban security and the safety of the population, limiting the presence of individuals deemed dangerous in certain urban areas. The perpetrators of the criminal act, for safety reasons, were banned from accessing and/or staying, for a period of 2 and 3 years, near numerous public places in the area where the criminal episode occurred.
