No encore feat for Italrugby in the Six Nations. After beating Scotland at the Olimpico in Rome, the Azzurri played a good match at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin but in the end lost to Ireland 20-13 (5-10) in a match valid for the second day of the tournament.

Quesada: “Proud and proud of the game played by the boys”

“I am very aware that today we played a great game. I am more than proud of the game played by the boys.” This was said by the Italrugby coach, Gonzalo Quesada, at the end of the 20-13 defeat in Ireland in the second round of the 2026 Six Nations. “We played a great first half – underlines the Argentine coach to Sky – and in the last minutes of an even tougher second half we were looking for an equaliser, which we would have found if that kick had bounced where expected. Two years ago here we lost 36-0, our objective was to be consistent and competitive, and we were. We are frustrated by the lack of a draw but the team had incredible courage. And it’s also a shame for that move forward (the disallowed try to Lynagh, ed.), at that moment we were in the game and we would have put further doubts on them – concludes Quesada – and now we will think about working ahead of the match in France”.
