A serious sacrilegious act in the church of Saints Peter and Paolo who deeply shaken the community of Spezzano Albanese. In fact, just as the faithful Arbëreshe prepared for the celebration of the Madonna del Rescue, some unknown people introduced themselves to the place of worship, forcing the tabernacle and subtracting the display case containing the magna hindrance intended for the Eucharistic adoration. The news was given by the parish priest, Don Marco Fazio, during the celebration of the Sunday evening mass that read a note from the Bishop of the Archdiocese of Rossano-Cariati, Msgr. Maurizio Aloise, who expressed “deep bitterness and dismay” for what happened: “A sacrilegious gesture that hurts the heart of our faith and leaves us lost in the face of so much desecration – said the prelate – since the most holy sacrament, true presence of the Lord among us, has been subtracted with violence and outrage”. Archbishop Aloise invited all the parishes of the diocese to pray as a repair liturgy. The carabinieri of the local station investigate the matter, who started investigations to reconstruct the dynamics and identify those responsible under the coordination of the San Marco Argentano company. There are several hypotheses under consideration by the investigators, certainly those of a sacrilegious nature, not excluding any connections with mefistophalic groups that could have acted as indeed in the past in the Upper Jonio where such cases have often registered.
