Stop the shirt-changers at the Sicilian Regional Assembly. The amendment, signed by the M5S deputy Cristina Ciminnisi, was approved by the regulation commission, which provides for those who change parties to lose their positions in the presidential offices of Parliament and in those of the commissions. To become operational, the law will have to be examined by the House.
Ciminnisi: «Restoring ethics to politics»
«These sanctions – says Ciminnisi – have been operational in the Senate since July 2022 and have also become legal provisions in the Marche region on the proposal of the M5S. We hope that these changes will be successful here too. The time has come to try to restore ethics to politics, whose credibility, among other things, is continually undermined by the scandals that overwhelm it with unacceptable frequency. It is not possible for deputies, once elected, to move from one party to another for mere personal gain, betraying the will of the voters who voted for them. That of turncoats is an unacceptable and now widespread malpractice which sees many politicians change parties with impressive ease, perhaps moving on to political formations with ideas and programs totally opposite to those appreciated by the voters who had voted for them to represent them in Parliament”.
