There is no two without three. Indeed, three out of six. After the historic all-Reggio podium in the Under 12 individual, Italy is crowned Under 12 Team World Champion at the FISTF World Cup 2026 in Paris.
And leading the Azzurri assault, out of six called up by coach Luca Bisio, were them: the three terrible kids from the Subbuteo Club Reggio Calabria: Marco Averna, Samuele Murabito and Aleksandar Rossitto. With them, completing a stellar national team, Edoardo Mazzilli, Simone Roberto and Lorenzo Buono.
A triumph that is the perfect snapshot of the work of the Reggio club: half of the World Champion national team is amaranth.
Iron group passed with full points
Italy had been placed in Group 1 with Belgium and England. Mission accomplished: first place with 6 points, 2 wins out of 2 and qualification for the semi-final. In the other group Spain advanced with full points ahead of Greece and France.
Semifinal: Italy-Greece 4-0, a monologue
In the semi-final against Greece, Italy left no chance. A clear 4-0, built with four individual victories:
– Edoardo Mazzilli 2-1 Alex Bogdanidis
– Samuele Murabito 3-0 Phillippos Kordantono
– Marco Averna 5-1 Dimitris Bogdanidis
– Aleksandar Rossitto 4-0 Apollon Dimakeas
Three points out of four bear the signature of Reggio, with Averna and Rossitto devastating. On the other hand, Spain beat Belgium 3-0. The final was served.
Final: Italy-Spain 3-1, it’s an Italian delirium
Final against all-time rivals, Spain. Very tough match, but Italy plays it with heart. The only point lost was that of Mazzilli, beaten 0-2 by Antonio Antunez. Then the Reggio Calabria axis is unleashed: Marco Averna, fresh individual World Champion, repeats the final of the day before and beats the world finalist Alvaro Castellano Rodriguez again with a peremptory 4-1. Samuele Murabito, third in the Individual World Championship, beats Blanca Cruz Gallardo 3-1. Decisive point from Aleksandar Rossitto, the other world bronze medalist, who closed 1-0 against Gonzalo Reguera Munoz and exploded the Italian bench. Italy 3 – Spain 1. Italy is Under 12 team world champion.
From Paris to Reggio Calabria the thread is direct: after the individual title of Averna and the double bronze of Murabito and Rossitto, comes the best title, the team one. And for three sixths, it is an all-Reggio title.
