This tenth anniversary is a collective response to certain shortcomings of our South which only in true knowledge, however, expresses its true essence: ten editions in which we shared culture, landscape and care as a form of presence. I thank those who have accompanied us so far and who will help us continue »: Antonia, daughter of Giuseppe Berto, speaks, who is more than custodian of his Calabrian” buen retiro “, that home of the soul chosen by his father. “Casa Berto” in Capo Vaticano (Ricadi) since 2015 returns, at the end of summer, to come alive, in ten years of uninterrupted dialogue with authors, artists, journalists and passionate audience who loves to find himself in that unique place, a living space of always new inspirations, friendships, meetings.
From Thursday to Sunday, with an addition, for the first time, of an extra appointment on September 20, the residence of the author of “Il evil dark”, overlooking the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria, will welcome the tenth edition of the “Summer at Casa Berto” festival, directed by Antonia Berto and Marco Mottolese. A special edition to celebrate the ten years in which authors of all kinds have “fallen” on the tip of the boot for a generous collective listening gesture but also gratitude towards a south that still has the ability to keep stories, ties and tradition.

Music, theater, cinema, literature and critical thinking will alternate in the garden of Casa Berto within a program capable of mixing different genres which, on the spotlight, have recomposed under the sky of a “Family Festival” which has been bringing the ability to listen to all the voices for ten years. Among the guests: Emanuele Trevi, Massimo Sideri, Antonio Padellaro, Rodrigo d’Erasmo, Iaia Forte, Isabella Ragonese, Niccolò Ammaniti, Gianluca Jodice, Dap (Andrea D’Apolito).

It begins on Thursday with “The dominion of light” (Woodworm/Wudz), reading-Converting by Roberto Angelini and Rodrigo d’Erasmo, very original project with vintage tones inspired by the theme of light as a form of resistance; A album also in vinyl accompanied by a book with texts of writers and artists such as Vasco Brondi, Chiara Gamberale and Emanuele Trevi. Following, the projection of “Rosa – The song of the sirens”, 2022 debut at the direction of the actress Isabella Ragonese, who wanted to accompany his film by opening the screening. On Friday 29 IAIA Forte will stage “Tony Pagoda”, a character created by Paolo Sorrentino that the actress re -reads in a female and theatrical key inside a piece on stage for the first time in Calabria. “Everything has its hour” (Solfanelli Editore), the new book by one of the main connoisseurs of Berto’s work, Pierfranco Bruni will also be presented. The evening will close with the classic “Cineforum” of the Festival and the screening of “Le Déluge”, a multi -printed film by the director Gianluca Jodice who, present, will tell the Genesis.
On Saturday he will open with Antonio Padellaro who, in dialogue with Giancarlo Loquenzi, will present his latest book “imaginary anti -fascists” (Paperfirst, 2025). Following, Massimo Sideri’s Lectio Magistralis on Calvino’s thought and artificial intelligence, with the presentation of “The artificial knight” (Luiss University Press). In the evening, the writer Niccolò Ammaniti will present, in extraordinary couple with Emanuele Trevi, his precious documentary “The Good Life”, shot in India.

Sunday 31 August, national preview of the new book by Emanuele Trevi, “My grandmother and the Count” (Solferino Editore): for the third time the writer prize wizard chooses “Summer at Casa Berto” to preview his work, precisely to testify to the intense relationship with the Festival.
In the evening, closing in music with the suggestive concert by Dap, pseudonym of Andrea D’Apolito, “Volcanoes”, perfect on the natural terrace overlooking the Costa degli Dei and on the Aeolian islands but above all in front of Stromboli.
The special event on Saturday 20 September will be “it seems ugly”, a poetry and performance show signed by Ilaria Amodio (aka inarial), accompanied by “Blue Ciano”, photographic exhibition by Rosy Suppa, a project that proposes a personal look and engaged on social and environmental issues. An ending in balance between female voice, south and sweet irony.
The Summer project at Casa Berto is carried out under the patronage of the Municipality of Ricadi, with the support of the Chamber of Commerce of Catanzaro, Crotone, Vibo Valentia and is part of the Cultural Cultural Cluster, for the integrated enhancement of the Coast of the Gods.
