Just over 10 million for 5 new parking spaces in the city. It is the amount calculated in the technical and economic feasibility project placed as the first basis to start the design of further spaces for parking in Taormina. The paper involves the construction of parking spaces at the bus terminal, in the square under via Roma, in the former ASM workshops, in via Mozart and via degli Ulivi, with an expense of 6,765,000 euros for works and supplies and 2,400,163 euros for sums available for a total of 10,406,000 euros. The Municipal Technical Office has entrusted these days the services of design and coordination for safety technicians during the design phase to an external professional, in charge with a direct assignment: to deal with it will be the engineer Salvatore Mezzatesta di Venetico, who obtained the position for the amount of 131,827 euros, compared to the auction base of 138,765 euros. The professional has already operated in Taormina by collaborating with the engineer Leonardo Russo to the drafting of the study aimed at identifying new parking areas, the 5,000 new parking spaces designed by the De Luca administration. A document that provides total 21 sites: multiple parking lots in the areas of Piazza W. von Gloden, in Mazzeo and the bus terminal; satin car parks in the Mastrissa and Villagonia district and also special projects for the Chianchitta website, which will be carried out in underground mode to reduce the environmental impact, also creating an urban park that would create a zipper between the town of Trappitello and that of Chianchitta. An investment estimated at 100 million, aimed at achieving the main objective of a greater availability of parking spaces, facilitating access to the historic center and tourist areas. For the moment Eng. Mezzatesta will continue the process for the five parking spaces identified by the technical office.
