Electronic devices for the control of plates seized, commonly known as “Targa System”, in use at some municipalities in the Ionian belt of the province of Catanzaro. To carry out the provision – issued by the investigating judge of the capital – Agents of the Traffic Police Section and the Economic -Financial Police Unit Catanzaro and the PG section of the Guardia di Finanza, with the help of firefighters and Anas staff.
According to what emerged from the first investigative findings, the devices would have been used with a potentially harmful methods of the current legislation regarding the assessment of violations of the Highway Code and the processing of personal data. The equipment – consisting of video surveillance systems, implemented with plaque reading software – have the purpose of operating surveys of infringements to the highway code in massive mode, using in a completely unjustified way of the deferred dispute.
At the same time, numerous contestation reports have been acquired high through the use of the “Targa System” system, probably spoiled by nullity and susceptible to cancellation, given the possible illegitimacy of the detection system, as well as the municipal budgets and the relative accounting documentation, in order to ascertain a possible improper use of the proceeds deriving from the sanctions, allocating them to other purposes.
