With 24 votes in favor and two abstentions, the Messina City Council has approved the Tari tariff plan for 2024. Although the cost of the service remains unchanged, which exceeds 60 million euros, Messina families finally have the opportunity to pay a tax that is a third lower than the previous year.

The reason is linked to the emergence of a number of areas that until now had not been subject to payment, especially with regard to non-domestic users. Now Messina has a figure finally in line and, even, below the national average of other metropolitan cities.

Even the centre-right parties voted in favour of the resolution to cut Tari, only the Democratic Party decided to abstain because it would have liked the overall cost of the service, given the increase in separate waste collection, to be lower than last year.
