The first victory for Coach Vela in group 2 of the A1 men’s team tennis championship arrives on the third day, on the courts of Tc Crema, bringing up the rear. The Peloritani beat the hosts with a score of 5 to 1. Once again the protagonists are the brothers Fausto and Giorgio Tabacco, undefeated in singles in these three days and also victorious in Crema. The Peloritani team of captain Francesco Caputo (in Lombardy also vice Antonio Famà) closed the singles match with a score of 3 to 1, thanks to Fausto Tabacco’s easy victories against Samuel Vincent Ruggeri 6-0, 6-3 and Giorgio Tabacco who inflicted a double 6-2 on Manuel Mazza.
Crema had momentarily equalized the score thanks to Andrea Arnaboldi who, after losing the first set to 0, took the measure of Dragos Nicolare Madaras against whom he gave a 6-4, 6-2 in the other two matches, in almost two hours of play.
Against Lorenzo Bresciani, however, the first success in singles came, wearing the Sicilian shirt, for Juan Bautista Otegui who won the match 7-6, 6-4, always keeping the reins of the match in his hands. In the doubles, the pair formed by Madaras and Otegui overcame Samuel Vincent Ruggeri and Nicholas Ionel in two sets and secured the score, with the Tabacco brothers completing the work (6-3, 6-2 to the Arnaboldi-Bresciani duo) for the final 1-5. With the three points gained in Lombardy, and with the concomitant success of Massa Lombarda in Vicenza, coach Vela rises to second place in the standings.
Next Sunday, third away match in a row for the club chaired by Tato Spatari. The people from Messina will be on stage in Massa Lombarda, in the match that inaugurates the return round and which will pit the top two in the class against each other.
