Two Japanese boxers died from the injuries sustained in two different meetings in Tokyo, according to the authorities. Shigetoshi Kotari Superpiuma weight and the light weight Hiromasa Urakawa, both 28 -year -olds, faced each other on the same evening on August 2nd at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.
Both were transported to the hospital where they were subjected to brain surgery. Kotari drew after 12 rounds against compatriot Yamato Hata, losing knowledge shortly after. He died on the night of August 8, as reported on Saturday evening on the website of his gym, Mt Boxing. Urakawa’s meeting against Yoji Saito was interrupted at the eighth and last round, and the athlete “tragically deceased due to the injuries sustained in the fight,” said the World Boxing Organization on Instagram. Urakawa died in the night, according to local media.
