The open -air museum, born to embellish the city “living room”, has more than one flaw. The works that make up the MAB offer a suggestive touch to the pedestrian stretch that develops from Piazza Bilotti to Piazza Carratelli; A kilometer along which unwilling art gems are set to the end. The initial scope of the project, in these twenty years, has lost some enamel. And this does not go unnoticed, especially to the most attentive looks.
The pedestrian island mixes culture, idleness and shopping. The first, however, has to deal with some forgetfulness.
Not all the works present, in fact, are equipped with the information didactic sign by the “Onlus Attilio and Elena Giuliani Foundation”. The sign describing the artistic realizations is no longer present next to various masterpieces. In some cases it is possible to notice, in reality, that it has never been foreseen. In others, however, at first it was placed but the weather took it away … this can be easily guessed even by giving a summary glance to the flooring, right near the works. A bitter destiny for “The philosophers warriors” (sculpture by Giuseppe Gallo), “The wolf of the Sila” (Mimmo Rotella), “Great accepted figure” (Emilio Greco), “Black Seat Marquina” and “Botticino seat” (Pietro Consagra), “Rebirth of Culture” (Mimmo Rotella), “Great Archaeologists” (Giorgio De Chirico), ” (Giacomo Manzù), “Sphinx” (Alba Gonzales), “Spiralo ’82” (Gio ‘Pomodoro), “Cariatide” (Mario Sironi), “The Sleeping” (Arturo Martini) and “Fury Selvaggia n. 1” (Umberto Mastroianni).
