The actor and theater director Fabio Grossi, Leo Gullotta’s life and stage partner with whom he had a civil union in 2019, after more than 40 years of cohabitation, dies at the age of 68. The family confirmed this after the news circulated on social media.
Who was Grossi
Born in Rome, Grossi began with the theater, debuting in 1977 with ‘Man, the Beast and Virtue’ directed by Edmo Fenoglio. In the 1980s he moved on to the cinema with comedies such as ‘My wife goes back to school’, ‘I ficossimi’ by Carlo Vanzina, ‘Pierino contro tutti’ and ‘W la foca’. His is the voice of Carluccio, Lino Banfi’s son-in-law in ‘Occhio malocchio, parsley e finocchio’. On TV he had worked on programs by Nanni Loy and Renzo Arbore and had appeared in dramas such as ‘The Girls of Piazza di Spagna’, ‘Commesse 2’ and ‘Un ciclone in famiglia’.

At the cinema he had also participated in more serious films, from ‘Vajont’ to ‘Fatti della banda della Magliana’ and Sorrentino’s ‘L’amico di famiglia’.
Since 2000 he had dedicated himself mainly to theater direction with works such as ‘Ecce Homo’, a representation of the Passion inspired by a thirteenth-century Umbrian laude, also collaborating with Leo Gullotta on ‘Il massimo dell’onesta’, ‘Minnazza’, ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’ and ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.
