It is the day of construction sites. Today, Thursday 28 August, the metropolitan city of Messina will in fact start two important projects financed by the PNRR, which mark a significant step forward in the path of redevelopment and enhancement of the territory.

During the morning, the official ceremony of delivery of the restoration works of the arch of Cristo Re, one of the most significant monuments of the city, set in the historic sixteenth -century wall, will be held at Palazzo Zanca. The intervention, worth 500,000 euros, will have a expected duration of six months and contemplates targeted cleaning, consolidation and restoration operations of the structure and upper walkway, with the aim of returning to the community this suggestive city glimpse, preserving its historical memory and promoting its tourist attractiveness.

Following, at the former spider of the Uppus district, the other ceremony of delivery of the works for the refunctionalization of the area will take place. With an investment of over 2.2 million euros in the integrated urban plans, the project will transform the former industrial workshop into a modern social inclusion pole, intended to host integrated services for fragile people, with disabilities or in disadvantaged conditions.

Both events saw the participation of the metropolitan mayor Federico Basile and, respectively, of the General Directors of the Municipality and the Metropolitan City, Salvo Puccio and Giuseppe Campagna, together with the technicians and representatives of the executive companies. These appointments represent the beginning of a concrete path of rebirth for two symbols of the city, focusing on the enhancement of the historical heritage and on the creation of cutting -edge social services.
