The Provincial Health Authority of Crotone has ordered the extension of 44 nurses and 27 socio-health workers, for a total of 71 professionals who had been hired last June as the summer reinforcement of the staff.
The contracts, initially active from 1 June to 30 September, were extended for further six months, expiring between the end of March and the end of April 2026. A longer duration than the usual extensions of two or three months, which will allow you to face the Christmas holidays with greater serenity, when the application for assistance grows significantly.
Already in the summer months, the increase in the staff had made itself necessary to face the exponential increase of temporary residents due to tourism and the return of the people who work out of office. This phenomenon has led to a considerable increase in access to the emergency room, hospital hospitalizations, outpatient services and territorial emergency-urgency interventions of Suem 118.
Thanks to reinforcements, the services were guaranteed without critical issues and staff in the staff was able to work with greater tranquility, taking advantage of regular holidays. The insertion of new professionals also helped to create a climate of collaboration and motivation that benefited from the entire organization.
“The decision to extend for six months stems from a choice of responsibility for citizens and, at the same time, of stability for the organization – underlines the extraordinary commissioner Monica Calamai -. In this way we guarantee continuity and safety of services and allow operators to work with greater serenity and motivation“.
This extension will also allow you to encourage the recovery of the backward holidays of the staff, which on average has set aside more than a hundred days, thus guaranteeing a better balance between assistance and work well -being.
The extensions represent a fundamental step to ensure adequate health care in compliance with the quality, humanization and safety of treatments, pending approval by the Calabria Region of the new Personal needs plan, which will allow to structurally consolidate these interventions.
