The bad weather still gives no respite. Vibo-Stefanaconi remains closed

The continuation of the bad weather postponed the reopening of provincial road 15 (Vibo Valentia-Stefanaconi-Sant’Onofrio), which was closed to traffic for a week following the major collapses that occurred on the ridge below the Vibo castle. The reopening was initially scheduled for today, but yesterday’s heavy rains led the provincial offices (which are dealing with the situation) to tread carefully: the possible unblocking is expected on Monday, after new investigations.
It will almost certainly be a partial reopening, with an alternating one-way system regulated by traffic lights, to allow the implementation of some interventions on the embankment, such as the installation of a rockfall protection net to protect the roadway from possible subsidence.
This is pending definitive work, which has been hoped for for over two decades (i.e. since the preparation of the route of the sadly known eastern ring road seems to have weakened the ridge) to definitively secure the strategic artery, which allows you to pass from one part of the city to another while avoiding the traffic of the centre. Yesterday’s rains not only compromised the reopening of the Sp 15, but also caused inconveniences in the Marinas. Dangerous flooding occurred, in particular, along the Nsa 572 “Di Monte Cucco and Monte Pecoraro” in the Pizzo section and on the former Ss 522 between Portosalvo and Briatico: traffic was significantly slowed down and motorists had considerable problems traveling along the stretch.
