Solidarity, memory and civil commitment: these are the pillars of the raising awareness and blood collection days organized by the ASP of Messina, in collaboration with the transfusion medicine services (SIMT) and voluntary associations.

The initiative is dedicated to the memory of the judge Rosario Livatino, killed by the mafia on September 21, 1990, and will take place with a series of appointments between 18 and 21 September 2025.

“The blood gives itself, it is not poured” is the message that accompanies the events, which do not represent only a health act, but also a strong gesture of civic and collective commitment.

The general manager of the ASP, Giuseppe Cuccì, underlines: “These days are not only dedicated to health, but represent a form of civic education: the donated blood is life that multiplies, hope that it is reborn. In the name of Rosario Livatino we invite citizens, and in particular young people, to protagonists of this commitment of civilization”.

The director of the SIMT of Patti, Gaetano Crisà, adds: “Each donation is a concrete deed of brotherhood that unites who gives and who receives. Initiatives like these strengthen the network of solidarity that keeps our health lively and honor those who have sacrificed their lives to defend legality and justice”.

The beating heart of the initiative are the young people, called to guarantee the generational change of donors and cultivate the values of memory, responsibility and legality.

The strategic direction of the Messina ASP reiterates: “Giving blood means choosing life, defending the community and making current the sacrifice of those who believed in justice to the end”.
