A dive into the eternity of mother earth, a divinity who in Calabria has always been generous, giving her children abundant fruits. A land which, for weeks, has, however, been a prisoner in the African bubble. Endless torrid days and hot nights, lived gasping without ever going below 25 degrees. In recent weeks we have discovered what hell looks like with record temperatures in many areas of the region, as weather experts say. But, beyond the statistics, what has been happening for years now can be perceived by observing the fields. In Calabria the climate change is announced by the altimetric revolution of the cultivation lines. Alongside citrus fruits, the region’s identifying products, there are avocados and mangoes, passion fruits and limes. In the meantime, olive groves and vineyards climb the crests of the hills, in search of those climatic conditions that until a few decades ago were guaranteed even at lower altitudes.
