The research began in the late afternoon yesterday when, at the request of the carabinieri and the prefecture, the firefighters of the provincial command of Crotone – detachment of Cirò Marina – intervened in the municipality of Mandatoriccio, in the locality of Gaglioppo, following the report of a dispersed person.

Subsequently, the operations were also supported by a team of the Cosenza Fire Brigade Command – Detachment of Corigliano Rossano – with the use of specialized TAS (topography applied to rescue) and UCL (local command unit).

The missing, an 85 -year -old man, had gone yesterday to a land of his own, without returning more. The report came to the rescue from his wife, worried about the prolonged absence of the husband and the failure to result of the autonomous research.

After several hours of intense patrol operations, around 2 am the man was identified alive in a cliff, where it was accidentally slipped. The firefighters immediately started the recovery procedures: the elderly person was immobilized on a spinal stretcher and transported to a safe area, where he was entrusted to the health personnel of Suem118 for the first care and the subsequent transfer to the hospital.
