The present and future of the Calabrian economic scenario passes through the eye of international challenges. The regional production sector, firmly based on the agri-food sector, is experiencing a phase of tensions that intertwine global dynamics. And exports, which represent the main item of the Calabrian outgoing market, especially for the production of oil, wine, preserves and fruit and vegetables, find themselves facing supranational agreements that risk undermining their competitiveness. On the one hand, the uncertain outcome of the EU-Mercosur agreement, on the other, the new duties imposed by Trump risk having negative repercussions on the trade balance of local small and medium-sized businesses.
