The checks on road safety and environmental matters by the Carabinieri of Sellia Marina continue unabated, along the Ionian strip, with particular attention to vehicular traffic on state road 106.
During the service, carried out in the evening hours, it was ascertained that three motorists were driving with a blood alcohol level much higher than the permitted level, behavior which cost them the complaint and the administrative detention of their cars. In one case, the blood alcohol level was so high that the driver lost control of the vehicle, ending up in an area along the highway, fortunately without any particular consequences. The timely passage of a police patrol meant that the driver did not get back behind the wheel, risking endangering his own safety and the safety of others. On another occasion, the suspicious attitude of a young man while driving pushed the military to deepen the check, which ended with the discovery and seizure of a switchblade, which the boy was unable to justify owning and for which he was reported. Two other motorists were sanctioned for risky overtaking on stretches of road with the double continuous stripe, which among other things had already been the scene of serious accidents in the past. A total of six driving licenses were withdrawn.
