The multipurpose indoor structure “Geodetica” in the 300 Alloggi/Tufolo district, one of the sports facilities most loved by the people of Crotone, was today officially returned to the city completely redeveloped, thanks to the intervention of the municipal administration. A symbolic place, which returns to the community’s disposal right in the midst of the process of valorising the city’s sports facilities.
The inauguration of the structure, in the presence of civil and military authorities and numerous citizens, was attended by the mayor Vincenzo Voce, and the councilor for the PNRR and Sports Facilities Luca Bossi.
The intervention is part of the redevelopment program of the eight neighborhood sports facilities financed with PNRR funds, and saw a total investment of 1,600,000 euros. The new Geodesic is part of the administration’s vision of creating a true Sports Citadel, a modern and functional area capable of offering new opportunities for aggregation and sports practice. The regeneration of the 300 Alloggi/Tufolo neighborhood will also continue with collateral projects, including a bike sharing service, an innovative tool for sustainable mobility, the redevelopment of the neighborhood and the construction, work is underway, of a multipurpose structure dedicated to gymnastics and martial arts.
The new Geodetic structure has been completely transformed: the old sheet metal perimeter has given way to a modern transparent PVC covering, integrated with new external arrangements, including an illuminated hedge that surrounds the entire facility. The playing field was made of multi-layer self-laying vinyl material and new prefabricated changing rooms were built, equipped with a photovoltaic system. The roof covering was also renewed, with the revision of the metal elements and the installation of a new 26 square meter sheet bearing the logo of the City of Crotone. Today, Geodetica is a modern and welcoming multi-purpose facility, capable of meeting the needs of practitioners and sports associations, filling historic infrastructural gaps for disciplines such as basketball, tennis and five-a-side football, which can now count on a completely renovated indoor structure.
«Today we are giving back to the city a symbolic place that is part of Crotone’s sporting history. The new Geodesic is not just a redeveloped plant: it is an investment in community, sociality and the future. Here they will be able to return to grow young athletes in a modern, safe and inclusive environment. We have transformed a degraded place into a point of reference for the entire neighborhood, in line with our vision of a city available to all Crotone residents” said Mayor Voce.
«It is a fundamental piece that adds to the ambitious project of the Cittadella dello Sport born at the beginning of our council. A project that is the result of vision and foresight which is increasingly taking shape and further broadens the range of sports disciplines and users who will be able to benefit from modernized and efficient facilities which, not a secondary aspect, also represent a tool for Urban Regeneration. And it is no coincidence that this project is held up as a model in Italian embassies around the world precisely as an innovative example of neighborhood recovery and for us it is a source of pride to have managed to fill an infrastructure and service gap and together to regenerate the Tufolo/300 accommodation district. We look with determination to the next goals and the next works, which will continue to provide answers to an entire community. My thanks go to the Stellato manager of the PNRR and Complex Programs Sector and to the whole team” said councilor Bossi.
