The Olympic Flame crossed Cosenza on a gloomy brutian morning, giving the city a moment of strong symbolic intensity and collective participation. The transit is part of the Journey of the Flame promoted by the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, former Organizing Committee of next year’s Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
A historic moment for the city
After passing through various Italian regions and provinces, the Flame also stopped in the capital Bruzio, offering citizens the opportunity to be protagonists of an event of great national importance. The overall journey will last 63 days, covering over 12 thousand kilometers and involving more than 10 thousand torchbearers along a route divided into daily stages.
The message from Mayor Franz Caruso
«The Olympic Flame is a sign of peace and unity», underlined the mayor Franz Caruso, highlighting how its passage aroused enthusiasm and participation. A result made possible also thanks to the commitment of the councilor delegated for sport Chiara Penna, who followed the organization of the event.
The mayor reiterated the educational value of sport, capable of uniting especially young people and breaking down the differences that generate discrimination. «Sport – he explained – teaches respect for the rules and conveys messages of democracy that are increasingly necessary in today’s society».
