At 74, Joël Le SCOUUANEC, a former surgeon who operated for decades in at least 10 great hospitals in France, appeared before the criminal court of Vannes, in Brittany, on charges of having committed violence and rapes on 300 young patients: the identified victims are an average age of 11 years. “If I am here in front of you – he said when the president gave him the floor – it is because in my past, when some of my patients were mostly children, I committed horrible acts on them”.
The Giraunots is already in prison for a sentence of 15 years for rapes and violence committed on 4 children (two were his grandchildren), and now he risks another 20 years as far as they have accomplished on very young patients between 1989 and 2014 in several hospitals in the west of France. Oltralpe his name has become the emblem of impunity and silence that covers pedophilia and abuses on minors. In the classroom, about thirty demonstrators have hoisted signs with writings such as “aggressive doctors, rapists, order of the accomplice doctors”. Each of the demonstrators showed a letter to compose the inscription “stop the law of silence”.
“Today I am perfectly conscious today – said the former surgeon – that the wounds that I have caused are indelible, irreparable. That I can’t return back. But I want to take responsibility for all the consequences that my acts have had on their life ». The low and profound voice of Giraunot was heard in silence until the end of the accused’s declaration, then the session was suspended: the trial will last 4 months. There are 299 people – now adults – who have undergone the abuses of Le GirauNec, always disguised or hidden behind medical proceedings. Of these 256 they were less than 15 years old, and when the surgeon used violence against them were asleep or in the awakening phase by the anesthesia. The horror perpetrated without any obstacle for 25 years was a 6 -year -old girl: one of her neighbor, who had the maturity and courage to tell the parents everything by triggering the complaint.
When the policemen went to his home, in 2017, they discovered a huge archive: the garanec cataloged his victims with names, characteristics of the small victim, age, home address, and even the type of violence he had inflicted on her. Many of these patients were caught by a sort of trauma amnesia and never been able to describe the abuses suffered.

His ex -wife claims to have never had, for a quarter of a century, the slightest suspicion about her husband’s behavior, despite the fact that in the notes found with the list of violence the opposite is written. Among other things, the former surgeon had already been sentenced a first time in 2005, in the middle of his abuse activity on young patients, for the possession of child pornographic images.
There is the suspicion that the ex -wife could have understood more than he admits, and in the classroom, several colleagues or collaborators of Le GirauNec who seems to have been aware of the first sentence of the surgeon but who did nothing to stop or denounce him, or at least prevent him from continuing to find alone in the presence of minor patients, will also be called explanations or collaborators.
