After the searches ordered by the DDA of Messina, the investigations coordinated by the deputy prosecutors Piero Vinci and Fabrizio Monaco continue, as part of the investigation on the assignment of public works to Mazzarrà Sant’Andrea. In recent days, the carabinieri have performed home searches against the mayor Carmelo Pietrafitta and the surveyor Giuseppe Di Natale, in charge of supporting the municipal technical office. The suspects are contested, respectively, the crimes of bribery for induction and attempted concussion by induction. The investigation, resulting from an investigative development connected to previous anti -mafia procedures, has already led to the arrest of three people. Two are in prison: the former boss Carmelo Navnano, a historical figure of Barcelonse crime, and his faithful figurehead Antonino Giardina, who in the guarantee interrogation has addressed harsh accusations against Pietrafitta and Christmas.
