The space dedicated to Messina Street fish cooking shows is back as part of the Messina Street Food Fest: haute cuisine and solidarity

From 12 to 15 October The space dedicated to cooking shows returns to Piazza Cairoli as part of the Messina Street Food Fest Messina Street fish.

There will be 15 names in the restaurant who will take turns cooking in the large tent set up for the occasion. After the inaugural show cooking, scheduled for Thursday 12 October at 7.00 pm, starting from 9.00 pm space for solidarity in favor of CIRS ETS Family House and the S. Antonio Mensa. Messina realities symbolizing hospitality and support for the needy, the CIRS manages family homes that welcome women and children who are victims of violence or in a state of socio-economic hardship, while the S. Antonio soup kitchen ensures hot meals every day for the “last” of the city.

The Messina Street Fish takes place with the support of the Sicilian Region – Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fisheries, Department of Mediterranean Fisheries through the PO FEAP 5.68 and aims to turn the spotlight on sustainable fishing, with particular attention to the use of the so-called local “poor fish”, with the aim of enhancing its properties and increasing its consumption. For this reason the chefs will use the catch of our sea in their preparations.

In addition to Andy Luotto, beloved showman and chef of the Riva Portese restaurant in Rome, two starred chefs will perform in the kitchen, Giuseppe RacitiZash restaurant in Riposto e Nino Ferreri, Limu restaurant in Bagheria, as well as big names in the sector, emerging talents and names also linked to the world of pizza, increasingly under the spotlight in recent times thanks to the awards given by “Gambero Rosso”. The pizzas prepared will also follow the theme linked to local fish. The events related to pizza will see performances by exceptional pastry chefs, master ice cream makers and mixology experts, who will complete the menu with their creations.

The cooking shows will be hosted by the journalist Valeria Zingale and coordinated by Gran Mirci with the precious collaboration of the students of the Antonello Hotel Institute, as part of a school/work alternation project.

Starting on Thursday 12 October at 9pm, the proceeds from the cooking shows will be donated to the Cirs Casa Famiglia and the S. Antonio canteen.
