The promotional mission to Miami of the delegation of the Strait Port System Authority, led by the Extraordinary Commissioner CA, ended with success and excellent expectations. Antonio Ranieri accompanied by the main Messina maritime agents and the representative of the “Messina Cruise Terminal”.
In the annual international trade fair event of the cruise sector, the Seatrade Cruise Global which took place from 8 to 11 April in the Florida city, the Port Authority received confirmation of the excellent numbers that Messina will record in the 2024-2025 cruise seasons.
There will be over 230 ports of call and more than 640,000 passengers in the current year, which places the city port among the top ten Italian ports. And a further exploit is expected for next year, in which 254 ships and even more than 750,000 cruise passengers are expected.
The port of Reggio Calabria and the interesting excursions that can be carried out were also presented to the companies who appreciated this further possibility of landing in the Strait. On the other hand, thanks to the visit organized by the ADSP in October 2022, some shipowners have already started to foresee landings in the Calabrian port that will double in 2025. These are still limited numbers, but they give hope for a possible development of this traffic , continuing to work in collaboration with operators and local authorities to improve the services and offerings of the area.
In Miami the Ports of the Strait were protagonists together with the other Italian Adsp in the “Cruise Italy” stand, coordinated by Assoporti in collaboration with ENIT – National Italian Tourism Board, exhibition area inaugurated by the Vice Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Edoardo Rixi which highlighted how important the maritime economy is for Italy and recalled the centrality of our nation in this important sector.
