The first edition of the Terre Vibonesi Festival, the annual platform for discussion and territorial planning promoted by the GAL Terre Vibonesi on the occasion of its tenth anniversary, kicks off tomorrow, Thursday 15 October. Two days, 15 and 16 October, hosted at Villa Klopè, which bring institutions, businesses, communities, young people and national skills into dialogue to transform experiences and identities into a shared vision of the future.

The participation of leading figures on the national scene will give institutional value to the event. The institutional greetings will culminate with the video message from the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida, who will send his best wishes to the participants. The vice-president of the Senate Gianmarco Centinaio will speak at Villa Klopè, while the undersecretaries of State Claudio Durigon (Ministry of Labor and Social Policies) and Luigi D’Eramo (Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry) and the deputy general corporate director of the FS Group Giuseppe Inchingolo will make their contribution via video link. Regional authorities and representatives of the agricultural, productive and academic world will also take part in the work, including the Councilor for Agriculture of the Calabria Region Gianluca Gallo and the president of UNCEM Marco Bussone, together with regional representatives of agricultural organisations.

The format of the Festival deliberately goes beyond the logic of the conference. The two-day itinerary is built around four permanent thematic axes – Lands that produce, Lands that welcome, Lands that tell their stories, Lands that remain – which generate as many guided dialogues and flow into the Future Construction Sites, called to produce priorities and operational proposals. The results will be returned publicly on October 16 and developed into a comprehensive Return Document.

The two-day program

Thursday 15 October — Telling, giving meaning. The day opens with institutional greetings, which will culminate with the video message from Minister Francesco Lollobrigida. The balance of the decade follows, “10 years of Terre Vibonesi: numbers, stories, impacts”. During the day, institutional interventions by the undersecretaries Durigon and D’Eramo, via video link, and by the vice-president of the Senate Centinaio are expected, together with the dialogues dedicated to the axes Lands that produce, Lands that remain and Lands that welcome, the testimonies “Stories that make the Terre Vibonesi” and the identity show cooking. In the afternoon the Cantiere di Futuro participated, the Donna Rurale delle Terre Vibonesi Award and the Terre Vibonesi Award, before the final aperitif.

Friday 16 October — Planning the future. We start with the dialogue dedicated to the Lands axis that are told, and then get to the heart of the Cantieri di Futuro that work in parallel. The morning culminates with the public restitution of the four construction sites and with the moment “What remains from the Festival: first results and next steps”, to close a journey designed to leave concrete tools to the territory.

A network of journalists will guide the dialogues: a qualified representation of Calabrian and national journalism will conduct and moderate the work. The dialogues of the four aces will be led by Danilo Monteleone (Corriere della Calabria), Maurizio Bonanno (ViViPress), Adelia Iacino (LaC) and Ugo Floro (Calabria7). The management of the institutional moments, the balance of the decade and the Agorà GAL will be entrusted to Francesca Russo, while Anna Aloi, together with Vincenzo Alvaro, will accompany the Donna Rurale Award and the identity show cooking.

The voice of the GAL

«In ten years we have learned that territories need places where they decide together, and the Festival was born for this. The participation of national and regional authorities alongside our communities confirms that the Terre Vibonesi have something to say about their future”, states the president of the GAL Terre Vibonesi, Vitaliano Papillo.
