What happened to the Union of Municipalities? In Rende the question has been circulating for months, and it is no longer just a technical question: it has become a political issue that is once again making itself felt as the urban area approaches new electoral deadlines. The Union of Municipalities – Cosenza, Rende, Castrolibero and Montalto Uffugo – has been formally on the table for at least twelve months. Rende accelerated: he prepared the draft Statute, approved it in the Council in January and sent it to the other mayors. It completed the preliminary acts, involved internal and external experts, and did what a lead municipality should do to start a shared institutional path. Yet, after that initial push, everything seems to have stopped. No official call, no political table, no formal response from the other municipalities. The project, at least on paper, is ready. But he doesn’t leave.
