The damage amounting to hundreds of millions of euros, the reconstruction, the compensation, the increase in costs for businesses and families, the constantly increasing expenditure on energy and fuel. Caught between rapid cyclones and the consequences of the war in the Gulf, Calabria is dealing with the current crisis and even more so in the future. In particular, the impact of the international scenario on a limping economy is worrying.

And it is Ance, the association of building constructors, who has launched an alarm that brings into play a new emergency: «In the absence of adequate measures – President Michele Laganà announced from Reggio – the concrete risk is that of significant slowdowns, if not suspensions, of numerous construction sites, with consequent repercussions both on the operations of companies and on the timely implementation of interventions of public interest».
The reference – contained in a letter sent yesterday to the metropolitan city and the mayors of Reggino – is to the “recent and extraordinary increases in the prices of raw materials and construction materials, as well as the persistent critical issues in the supply chains” which are causing “very serious difficulties for numerous construction companies”. And in a region where building and construction are one of the leading sectors, the issue becomes truly serious.
