How much does the Calabria Region pay each year to pay rent? Complex question even for the deepest connoisseurs of the internal dynamics of the Citadel. The certainty is that tens of thousands of euros are paid to honor property rental contracts signed over time.
Some examples: for the archive located in Catanzaro alone, in via Molè, the Region has paid monthly fees of around 73 thousand euros. Important figures lost, sometimes, without great benefits. High sums are paid for inadequate premises, without fire prevention systems, without glass and therefore an improvised “shelter” for birds, cats, dogs and mice. All this without taking into account the paper material which is now in the process of decay, in clear violation of the rules on the conservation of archives which provide for high sanctions that the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage applies to transgressors.
In that chaos of papers, finding a file is impossible. The employees, in fact, refuse to go.
