The candidacy of Mimmo Lucano (AVS) in the circumscriptions of Cosenza and Reggio Calabria was refused. For those who evaluated the Lista dossier, the former mayor of Riace would fall into one of the cases of the Severino law. Last February, in fact, the sentence, for a single false in public deed committed by a public official, to 18 months of imprisonment with suspended sentence, became definitive. This is the comment by Ferdinando Pignataro, regional secretary of the Italian Left: «The Central Central Office of Cosenza at first had positively evaluated our list, including the name of Mimmo Lucano. That of Reggio Calabria, however, had immediately refused the name. It happened that Cosenza subsequently also decided to adapt to the decision taken by the Strait. Decision with respect to which we will present an appeal because we are convinced that we are faced with a political persecution, which also penalizes all left -wing alliance. We are really at the Assurro Theater. What could emerge, at most, always because of the Severino Law, is an inextriction, not an incitement. It is out of any common sense that an Italian representative in Brussels cannot apply in his region ».
Lucano’s words
“There is a common thread for me who begins many years ago, with the criminal affair, which continues with the decline and with the Severino law and which ends with the epilogue of these days as regards participation in the regional”. Mimmo Lucano said so after learning that the electoral commissions of the Courts of Reggio Calabria and Cosenza recused him from the AVS list. “Obviously – he added – we have resorted to the Court of Appeal but this situation is a p0 ‘turns my enthusiasm. In any case, I will continue to support the list of AVS and the candidate for President of the Easter Tridico Region with a very strong conviction. I spent myself for the unit of the center -left and for the ideals that Pasquale represents. For the first time we are all united and a hope for Calabria. Let’s go on anyway ».
