The center-right is preparing for the next two elections. The first concerns the council and presidency of the Province; the other next year’s administrative elections. The “Salvinians” represent a growing area of the coalition. Simona Loizzofrom Cosenza, medical director, former regional group leader of the League and now group leader in the Health and Covid Commission in the Chamber, has been indicated as a possible candidate for mayor. The deputy, who during the Roccaraso convention launched the idea of bringing together all the Northern League women from the South for a meeting in Naples, talks about the future by announcing her unavailability to personally launch herself into the race to conquer the seat of mayor of Bruzio: “I’m not running.” Loizzo draws the picture of his party in the capital city, in the province and in the region, indicating strategies and prospects.
Honorable, let’s start with the meeting in Roccaraso: what impression did you get from it?
«A great relaunch of the National League starting from the South»
Why?
«I think of the statements of the former president of Veneto, Luca Zaiawho stated that the League is a single and indivisible party from north to south. All the delegations from central-southern Italy were there, including our Calabria”,
In Calabria have you overcome “mistrust” and rivalries in the party?
«I saw great harmony between the delegations of all the Calabrian provinces. The climate and style were familiar according to the political model indicated by Duringon in these months. I saw a clear overcoming of internal divisions.”
What changes in the facts?
«Overcoming disharmonies will serve to establish everything in a collegial manner without friction and pressure from one territory on another. The components that presented themselves as “Scopellitian” or “Southern Italy” entered into the internal dynamics with the collaborative spirit that animated the southern convention. They agreed to be an integral part of the party, despite their differences and peculiarities, participating in internal discussion tables”
On March 8th we will vote for the renewal of the presidency of the Province of Cosenza: what will you do?
«We are working on some candidates to share with the centre-right majority. As far as we are concerned, we have an outgoing councillor, who is Andrea Algieri and other city councilors who want to present their candidacy. We are discussing the President with the coalition.”
There will be a vote in Cosenza next year: will he take the field?
«From many quarters they have requested my candidacy for mayor, which flatters me but I have not given my availability. I am constantly busy with my work as a parliamentarian. I believe, however, that the value method must be respected in the choices to be made, i.e. focusing on a personality that takes us out of the ford of populism and just getting by. A personality capable of tackling the complex issue of the urban area. An area that needs to be revisited and not only from the point of view of territorial borders but by tracing a large line of aggregation around the University. I believe that Cosenza needs to talk about programs and not just candidates. Nominations cannot be launched unless a method and program have been shared. In Reggio, where we will vote soon, I am convinced that we need to start from the simulacra of the League which are: Tilde Minasisenator and former regional councilor; the provincial coordinator Giuseppe Mattianiwhich has been enormously successful and is our leader in the Region. The Scopellite component that approached the League during the last elections must also be included.”
What are your relationships with the other Calabrian parliamentarians of your party?
«I and Domenico Furgiuele we are friends and he has done very well in his political action in recent years. There are also excellent relationships with the vice-president of the regional council, Filippo Mancuso».
