One victim, Renato Fantò (from Caulonia), in the tragedy at kilometer 111 of state road 106, in the stretch between Marina di Gioiosa Ionica and Roccella Jonica. A car – for reasons still under investigation – after skidding, crashed into the guardrail, causing the death of the driver. The driver of the vehicle, despite the attempts of the rescuers who arrived on the scene, did not make it. The passenger of the car was hospitalized in serious condition and was immediately transferred by air ambulance to Catanzaro.

The Siderno fire brigade team intervened at the site of the accident, coordinated by team leader Natale Laface, engaged in operations to make the vehicle safe and in carrying out the relevant tasks.
