Eighth place out of 82 participants for Giovanni Forciniti at the Winter Challenge of the 21 kilometers of trail running “Sila 3 Vette”, a night race held on 27 February in the Camigliatello Silano area.
The athlete, a general practitioner originally from Longobucco, completed the route in 3 hours and 15 minutes, tackling the snow-covered paths of the Sila National Park with only the light of his headlamp, among woods and mountain stretches immersed in darkness.
The route between Monte Scuro and Monte Curcio
The competition, born in 2017 on the initiative of Giuseppe Guzzo, known as Pippo, and Mara Carchidi, develops on a 21 kilometer route that crosses some of the most evocative areas of Sila. The athletes tackled the race starting from the refuge in the Federici area, in the center of Camigliatello Silano.
During the route the participants crossed the mountain stretches between Monte Scuro and Monte Curcio, with control points set up by the “Sila 3 Vette” organization to guarantee assistance and safety along the route.
