Progress, but still no agreement on Ukraine and no mention of the fire or a trilateral summit with Volodymir Zelensky. In the words of Donald Trump the synthesis of the meeting of almost three hours with Vladimir Putin in Alaska: “There is no agreement until there is no agreement”, the game of words used by the American president.
Of course, the summit seems to have strengthened the relationship between the two leaders. Trump has reserved a treatment as a great friend to Putin, very different from the one reserved a few months ago in Volodymyr Zelesnky in the oval study. To welcome the tsar on the airport track there were a red carpet the same American president who applauded him, he tightened his hand and then, with an unprecedented move, he welcomed him on his presidential limousine, ‘The Beast’, to travel the short journey from the military base to the official place of the meeting. Ten minutes of real face to face in which the two leaders were completely alone, without even the translators. The official meeting, which saw them accompanied both by restricted delegations, lasted almost three hours.
Then they showed up in front of what should have been a press conference by both talking about “progress” and “agreements”, but without providing any detail on their interview.
And above all without taking the questions of journalists. Neither of the stage never mentioned the word truce, despite Trump before arriving in Anchorage had said that he would press the immediate fire for a cease: “I will not be happy if it will not be today,” he explained.
