The Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Sicily has excluded the presence of the African paste virus (PSA) and the classic pig plague (PSC) in the two wild boars found dead on the coast of Santa Teresa di Riva, in the province of Messina. The confirmation comes less than 24 hours after the discovery of the two animals. The diagnostic tests conducted in the institute laboratories have given negative outcome for both viruses. Professor Francesca Di Gaudio, general manager of IZS, said he was “proud of the workshops always ready to face emergency situations. The protection of animal health and public health are our main objective ». The Institute reiterated its commitment to the epidemiological surveillance of the territory and in the constant collaboration with the local, regional and national health and veterinary authorities.
