In Nicotera (VV), in a particularly impervious rural area on the border with the territory of San Ferdinando (RC), the carabinieri of the Compagnia di Gioia Tauro – with the operational support of the helmet “Calabria hunters” – Two Reggi subjects arrested in the act of the act, while they were intent on collecting marijuana inflorescences from a vast hemp plantation.
The cultivation, consisting of over two thousand variable height plants, extended in a wooded area that is difficult to reach and carefully screened by vegetation, so as to make it difficult to identify from the ground. His discovery was possible thanks to a targeted air observation activity conducted by the Carabinieri of the 8th Core Helicopters of Vibo Valentia, as part of a wider reconnaissance and control action of the territory started to counter the production and traffic of drugs in the area.
The subsequent rake operations on the ground, carried out by the specialized military of the “hunters”, allowed to reach the area, ascertain the presence of the cultivated plants and surprise the two subjects just while they were intent on proceeding with the collection, probably intended for the subsequent packaging and entry on the illegal market. A dozen black bags of already eradicated marijuana were seized, which only exceeds over 100 kg of substance and the entire area has also been subjected to seizure. The hemp plants, on the other hand, were destroyed on site, as required by current legislation.
