The EU Council today renewed the economic sanctions against Russia for a further 12 months and until 31 July 2027. The decision follows what was established by the European Council of 18-19 June 2026, on which the EU leaders agreed to extend the economic sanctions against Russia for twelve months. The measures in force cover key sectors, including trade, finance, energy and dual-use technologies, and include a ban on the import or transfer into the EU of oil and some Russian oil products transported by sea.
