During the night, some drones hit an oil refinery in Kirshi, in the Russian region of Leningrado, triggering a fire that was then turned off. Local officials and media reported it, reports the Kiyv Independent website. Ocular witnesses reported that they saw the fire burst into Kirishi’s refinery.
The regional governor Alexander Drozdenko confirmed the attack with drone and the fire, but did not identify the system, adding that the fire was turned off.
«The air defense forces destroyed seven drones in the skies of Kirishi. The fire in the industrial area was turned off, “wrote Drozdenko on Telegram. The video and photos published by Astra, a Russian independent information channel, seem to show a great explosion and flames that got up from the refinery. The refinery, over 800 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, is one of the largest in Russia. It has been targeted at least three more times: in September and March this year and March 2024.
Zelensky to the EU: the only effective response to all challenges is the unit
«In recent days, on the sidelines of the summit of the European political community, we held profitable meetings with our partners. Europe is now facing numerous challenges, but there is only one effective response to all: unity. Units in every decision taken for our collective defense ». The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky writes on Telegram. “The Purl initiative and the Safe tool, the security guarantees for Ukraine, the pressure on Russia and the new robust package of sanctions of the European Union, the use of frozen Russian assets and the European future of Ukrainian, Moldova and Western Balkans: we discussed all these themes in detail with every leader and we count on their full support”. «We have also dealt with bilateral projects relevant to each of them. Europe must be protected by any threat. Only a joint action and joint efforts can guarantee real security. I am grateful to all those who include this concept and are willing to commit themselves in this sense »concludes the president.
