UN alarm: “Gaza at the breaking point, the increasingly hungry children”

The situation in Gaza came to a “breakage point”, from which he risks not going back further, “enough”: it is the last heartfelt appeal of the world food program (Pam), the UN arm for a fair distribution of food on the planet, so that the famine is stopped in Gaza, which Israel continues to deny in every way, between official notes and commercials on social networks. The executive director of the Pam, Cindy McCain, was To Khan Youunis and Deir El -Balah, where he visited a clinic for malnourished children and met displaced mothers who fight daily to find leftovers of food.

A testimony that openly clashes with Israeli propaganda, who in recent days has invited well -known influencers to find that the famine in Gaza did not exist and that in recent months has flooded the social networks of paid commercials with images of superfine foods of which, according to Israel, the strip would be full. According to McCain, on the other hand, the famine in Gaza worsens day by day and therefore urges the urgent restoration of its network of 200 food distribution points, replaced by Israel and the United States with the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.

In its distribution centers there are daily victims of firearm shots. In Rafah, the disappearance of several people was reported, including a child. This was reported by a group of UN experts: five members of the United Nations working group on forced or involuntary disappearance, together with Francesca Albanese, special rapporteur of the United Nations on the rights in the Palestinian territories, and to her counterpart on the right to food, Michael Fakhri.

An “atrocious crime”, to which GHF is however said to be foreign. The famine in the strip “is no longer a looming possibility, it is a current catastrophe”, insists the secretary of the UN Guterres. “Israel, as occupying power, has clear obligations: it must guarantee the supply of food, water, medicines and other essential goods, facilitate much wider humanitarian access, protect civilians, and put an end to the destruction of what is essential for the survival of the population”.

Israel calls “a fraud” the report of the Etegrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), the global hunger monitoring system of the United Nations, which has made the Carestia formalized in Gaza, asking for its withdrawal, under penalty of a request to the donors governments to stop funding.
