The final day of the advanced training program in healthcare management and operating room management of the Cosenza Hospital took place today in the prestigious setting of the Aula Magna of the University of Calabria, carried out by Unical in close collaboration with the Sant’Anna University School of Pisa. The event celebrated a milestone of high institutional value, consecrating a fruitful and structured alliance between the academic system and the local public health system.

The training model and integration in the field

The entire training course, which lasted five months, was characterized by a model of cooperation and integration which favored the active and synergistic participation of the hospital’s healthcare and medical staff alongside doctors and professors of the University. A profound sharing of skills, experiences and languages that represents a milestone in overcoming the barriers between field assistance, managerial management and scientific research, laying the foundations for modern, efficient healthcare governance tuned to the real needs of the community.

Institutional greetings and the speech of the Greek Rector

The works opened with institutional greetings from the rector of Unical Gianluigi Greco, the general director of the AO of Cosenza Vitaliano De Salazar and Sabina Nuti, scientific director of the training course.

«This path of excellence – declared the Rector – tangibly demonstrates how the synergistic collaboration between the University of Calabria and the Cosenza Hospital must be seen as a powerful lever for the innovation of our healthcare system. Seeing hospital doctors, nursing staff, healthcare professionals and university professors studying, discussing and training together, combining scientific research with the daily practice of the ward, is the sign of a territory that knows how to network and which aims for the highest level of quality, efficiency and safety of care for citizens”.

«As a University we intend to do our part with conviction, putting higher education and our research heritage to support healthcare structures. This is not an isolated initiative – concluded Greco – but the pillar of a long-term strategy aimed at enhancing internal skills and building cutting-edge healthcare».

The vision of the hospital: De Salazar’s comment

For Vitaliano De Salazar «training represents a fundamental value and an ethical investment that the Company returns to its employees for their professional and personal growth. The objective of the path is also to strengthen the concept of global acceptance and care of the patient, an approach that has now become daily practice at the Annunziata Hospital. This is also confirmed by the positive feedback expressed by patients through satisfaction questionnaires.

Today marks the end of a journey dedicated to central themes such as leadership, the effective management of hospital settings and the identification of concrete solutions to overcome critical issues. This is a format that we intend to propose again, also in light of the results presented today by the working groups, which highlighted the involvement, professionalism and strong participation of the staff”.

Project Work and the themes at the center of innovation

During the morning, the project works developed by the students were recalled – over one hundred – which addressed crucial issues for the innovation of services: from clinical risk management to the safety of care, up to university-territory integration, the evaluation of patient experience (PREMs systems) and reorganization for intra-hospital processes.
