The Rector’s Courtyard hosted the Welcome Day dedicated to freshmen of the University of Messina. Over 1,000 new students took part in a day of celebration designed to encourage socialization and raise awareness of the services offered by the University. The freshmen also received gadgets.
The event – organized in collaboration with the ATM and ERSU Messina – was opened by the welcome of the Rector, Prof. Giovanna Spatari.
“This day – said the Rector – is the warm welcome that the University wants to give to its new freshmen. We want to represent to them the sense of community and hospitality. Furthermore, on this occasion the students have the opportunity to receive the most useful information to use our services, but also to experience the city. It is a moment of aggregation, also in the presence of the Vice-Rectors and the Directors of the Departments, sealed by a final moment of music and fun. Students are always central to the University’s logic, I wish them a wonderful experience within the UniMe family.”
Among others, the vice-rector, prof., was present. Giuseppe Giordano, the Vice-Rectors, prof. Antonino Germanà, Candida Milone and Paola Dugo, the General Director, Dr. Pietro Nuccio, the Delegate for the Promotion and Development of the Training Offer in the Territory, Prof. Cinzia Ingratoci and other representatives of governance.
The new students crowded the information gazebos, dedicated to all the available opportunities: canteen and accommodation services, transport, language certifications, international mobility programs, sports activities, paid collaborations, discounts on university fees and digital services such as wi-fi, the Unime app, Student Chat and Microsoft packages. The staff also provided information on libraries, study and work orientation, study support groups, methods of carrying out Tolc tests and services dedicated to psychological fragility, disabilities or specific learning disorders.
The day ended with the Welcome Party (with the collaboration of all the student associations), animated by the University radio UniversoMe, DJs and local musical groups.
