American journalist Shelly Kittleson has been released after a week in captivity. The New York Times reports this, citing two Iraqi security officials and Kaitab Hezbollah. Kittleson was released “in appreciation of the patriotic positions” of the Iraqi prime minister, Kaitab Hezbollabh said in a statement, stressing that Kittleson must leave Iraq immediately.
Kittleson was released in exchange for the release of some Kaitab Hezbollah prisoners, two Iraqi officials said. Kittleson had not been heard from since March 31, the day of her kidnapping.
