A river of people crowded the Cathedral of San Leoluca and the square in front of the funeral of Francesco Mirabelli, the child of even four years died after the accident in the Durant Moderate Urban Park.
The bishop Attilio Nostra, in the homily, called Francesco “a warrior” capable of uniting everyone with his strength and short but intense presence. Next to the parents, visibly tried but composed, there have been close family, friends, representatives of the institutions, doctors and the entire community.
The capital stopped as a sign of mourning: flags at half -auction, closed activities, suspended events. Meanwhile, the park, sealed from September 5, has become a place of commemoration with flowers, plush and messages.
The story remains under the lens of the Vibo Valentia prosecutor, who opened an investigation for manslaughter. The investigations, of a criminal and administrative nature, will have to clarify the responsibilities and the reasons for the tragedy, while some games would have already been removed in the park.
